Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the Yurok Tribe. As a Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the values of our tribe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and Respond: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to ensure the safety and security of our community. Respond to emergency calls and situations, providing timely and effective assistance.
  • Enforce Laws and Regulations: Enforce tribal ordinances and laws, issuing warnings and citations as necessary. Pursue and apprehend suspects, working collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Investigate and Analyze: Conduct thorough investigations of crimes and incidents, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Analyze data and information to identify patterns and trends, informing our community safety strategies.
  • Provide Community Support: Offer support and assistance to our community members, providing information and resources as needed. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address community concerns and needs.
  • Maintain Equipment and Vehicles: Ensure that all equipment and vehicles are in good working condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Possess a Basic Academy Certificate from a California POST-approved police academy or equivalent. A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse community members. Demonstrate knowledge of law enforcement procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Certifications and Training: Obtain and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certificates within 90 days of appointment. Possess a valid telephone service and be able to lift or carry unconscious, injured, or combative individuals.
