Radiology Patient Navigator Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Radiology Patient Navigator to join our team at University Hospital in Newark, NJ. The successful candidate will serve as a key contact for patient services in the Radiology Department, providing exceptional patient advocacy and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide assigned patients through the healthcare system, ensuring timely appointments and access to necessary patient-care materials and medical records.
  • Develop relationships with referring healthcare providers and facilitate patient care through effective communication and coordination.
  • Provide technical service as needed and maintain accurate records of patient referrals and statistics.
  • Collaborate with key persons in the Radiology Department and other UH departments to increase health awareness and provide health education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, plus two (2) years of work experience in a healthcare environment dealing directly with patients.
  • Technical clinical experience a plus. Candidates must be experienced and competent in a patient advocacy and/or customer service role.
  • Some experience in an outpatient setting preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology required. Computer literacy with competence in Microsoft Office required.
  • Years of experience and/or navigator training may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, with flexibility to work varying hours.
  • Preferred candidate will be friendly, outgoing, caring, empathic, dedicated, and resourceful.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
