The Branch Manager is accountable for overseeing all functions within the retail branch. This role encompasses ensuring that all operational tasks align with banking standards and policies, while adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements. In collaboration with Human Resources, the manager will engage in the recruitment, hiring, and management of employee-related matters. Responsibilities also include monitoring the physical security of the branch and addressing any arising issues, managing sensitive customer interactions, and ensuring timely communication of any concerns to the appropriate leadership members. This position oversees multiple locations, specifically our Bridgewater Center and Scotland Blvd. branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide active leadership within the branch to foster a positive customer experience, which includes sales, service, and guidance to meet customer and bank expectations. Build strong, trusting relationships with individual clients.
- Through exemplary role modeling and coaching, ensure that all branch personnel effectively promote and refer banking products and services. Offer training as needed to maximize cross-selling and referral opportunities, ensuring that deposit and sales objectives are met.
- Enhance branch and bank business by cross-selling a variety of bank-provided products and services, such as trust, investments, mortgages, home equity loans, commercial loans, cash management, and remote deposit capture. Additionally, promote third-party products and services, including merchant services, payroll, and credit cards.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the full range of products and services offered, ensuring continuous personal development and facilitating staff training on new offerings. Provide guidance to enhance the branch team's sales and customer service capabilities to support customer needs and achieve growth targets.
- Lead and supervise branch staff on a daily basis, embodying a professional image and serving as a role model. Responsibilities include making routine employment decisions, evaluating performance, and making salary recommendations; assigning tasks, providing training, and advising staff as necessary; resolving personnel issues in collaboration with Human Resources; preparing segments of the annual budget and ensuring adherence to its constraints; and maintaining a professional demeanor among all branch staff.
- Oversee all routine branch operations, including reviewing and approving service fees; conducting audits of teller drawers, account openings, and file maintenance; managing vault, cash, and ATM balancing; preparing and presenting periodic reports on volume and activity; and handling safe deposit box operations.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure the branch operates within budget, including managing staff overtime.
- Originate, process, underwrite, and commit to small business and certain consumer loans, ensuring appropriate risk management to foster branch and bank growth.
- Fulfill Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with local community representatives, civic organizations, businesses, and professional groups.
- Communicate and nurture relationships with business clients and prospects through site visits and follow-up calls.
- Maintain a visible presence in the community through active participation in local organizations, volunteering, and attending events.
- Engage in planning and executing initiatives within the Retail division.
- Additional related responsibilities as required.

- Bachelor's Degree in business management or a related field, or equivalent experience in retail banking.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in retail banking leadership is required, with a solid understanding of banking industry regulations. Extensive knowledge of the retail banking sector, with a strong emphasis on customer service and sales for both consumers and businesses.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and capable of learning other software applications. Ability to develop expertise with technologies utilized by retail division staff.
- Strong customer service orientation, including understanding client needs, providing effective problem resolution, and demonstrating enthusiasm and creativity.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective oral, written, and presentation skills. Strong verbal communication, technical writing, and presentation abilities, with the capacity to engage with individuals at varying levels of understanding.
- Proven conflict management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and mentor others.
