Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a skilled Renewable Energy NEPA Compliance Specialist to enhance compliance initiatives for renewable energy and transmission line projects on federal lands. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in leading and contributing to intricate environmental studies and permitting processes for renewable energy initiatives. This role demands exceptional communication, technical, and writing abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to guide a multidisciplinary team. Growth opportunities include fostering client relationships, engaging in marketing and business development, and overseeing interdisciplinary teams on a variety of complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee or assist in the management of NEPA documentation.
  • Develop or supervise the creation of development, utilization, and operational plans.
  • Evaluate the necessity for or adequacy of technical studies and management plans.
  • Utilize knowledge of planning and NEPA regulations for federal agencies to advise renewable energy clients.
  • Organize, implement, and facilitate public and agency meetings.
  • Supervise internal project teams and deliverables.
  • Act as a staff advisor and consultant in one or more technical areas.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively to manage multiple ongoing projects to successful outcomes.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in environmental permitting and planning or equivalent experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in NEPA compliance, report writing, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with solar projects, other renewable sources, or transmission lines on federal lands.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental laws and their implementing regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Awareness of current issues and projects related to federally managed lands.
