Position Overview

We are currently seeking a seasoned Real Estate Attorney to enhance our centralized Legal Department in Denver. This department plays a crucial role in providing legal guidance across our divisions nationwide regarding real estate transactions, contract negotiations, due diligence, and development matters.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves:

  • Reviewing, negotiating, and drafting real estate contracts and associated agreements for the acquisition of various types of land, including raw, partially developed, and finished platted lots.
  • Conducting thorough due diligence and facilitating the closing of land acquisitions, collaborating with paralegals and title companies to prepare and assess closing documents and title work.
  • Performing legal analysis on title issues, bonding, development matters, community facilities districts, homeowner associations, and water availability.
  • Engaging with management to discuss and mitigate risks associated with real estate purchases and developments.
  • Providing guidance to division personnel on company policies and procedures related to land transactions and risk management.
  • Assisting in leasing matters as needed.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a focus on real estate law. Experience in homebuilding is preferred.
  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to practice law in Colorado or another state with single client admission in Colorado, maintaining good standing.

Compensation

The base salary for this position ranges from $160,000 to $200,000, with year-end discretionary bonuses available.
