Position Overview:
Korn Ferry is collaborating with a leading healthcare organization to identify their next Director of Surgical Services. This pivotal role is located in a major metropolitan area and reports directly to the Vice President of Surgical Services. The facility is a prominent 750-bed Level I trauma center equipped with 21 operating rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
The Director of Surgical Services will spearhead the strategic direction of the Surgical and Central Sterile Departments. This includes:
- Leading departmental strategic planning and operational initiatives.
- Overseeing fiscal management and program development.
- Ensuring that all multi-disciplinary planning activities related to patient care align with the organization’s mission and vision.
This leadership role demands a visionary approach to quality service and operational efficiency, along with the ability to inspire and engage team members. The Director will utilize strong analytical and financial skills to drive results.
Collaboration:
In partnership with the Vice President of Surgical Services, the Director will engage with management across perioperative services to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality surgical care. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with surgeons, anesthesiologists, trainees, and staff is essential.
Team Management:
The Director will oversee approximately 160 full-time equivalents (FTEs) and manage a non-staffing budget of around $45 million.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a surgical department.
- Preferred background in a University Affiliated Healthcare facility or Level I Trauma Center.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience in perioperative or surgical settings.
- Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a results-oriented mindset.
Education and Licensure:
Candidates must have:
- A degree from an accredited School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- A Master’s degree (MSN, MS, or MBA) is preferred but not mandatory.
- An active or eligible RN license for the state of Tennessee.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification in CNOR and ACLS is preferred.
