About This Opportunity:

The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a skilled Veterinary Nurse II, III, or IV to provide exceptional patient care and customer service as part of our dedicated Dentistry team.

This role plays a vital part in supporting the veterinary staff with clinical expertise, ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients.

Responsibilities include performing dental cleanings, preparing the dental suite for operations, handling instruments during procedures, and monitoring consumables.

Nurses in this position have opportunities for professional growth through continuing education and various learning experiences.

Working hours for Veterinary Nurses in this role will include daytime hours Monday-Friday, requiring excellent communication and leadership skills.

This position requires on-site work, performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • For Veterinary Nurse II: Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and two years of relevant experience.
  • For Veterinary Nurse III: Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the AVMA and five years of relevant experience as a veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam.
  • For Veterinary Nurse IV: Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the AVMA and five years of relevant experience as a veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam, along with an approved NAVTA Veterinary Technician Specialty certification and maintenance of credentials based on NAVTA criteria.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior, and animal husbandry.
  • Skilled in interpersonal and written communication.
  • Skilled in basic computer skills.
  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
  • Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a high-intensity environment.
  • Ability to perform general diagnostic procedures.
  • Skilled in time management and prioritizing daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.

Additional Requirements:

The College of Veterinary Medicine requires that new hires in any level must obtain a Kansas license as a Veterinary Technician within 6 months of employment.
