Clinical Nurse Specialist - Oncology Care Provider

The oncology care team is composed of experts dedicated to enhancing the treatment, care, and research for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will primarily oversee the infusion and acute visit clinic, managing a wide range of oncology-related urgent and non-urgent matters. This role involves conducting focused assessments for patients with acute and complex chronic conditions, managing initial evaluations, diagnostic testing, and implementing care plans. The specialist will facilitate hospital admissions as necessary and communicate any changes in patient health status or urgent issues to the primary attending physician and team promptly. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary health team is essential to ensure safe, effective, and timely patient care.

Scope of Position
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is accountable for delivering healthcare services to adult patients within the framework of a supervisory agreement with an attending physician at the James Cancer Hospital.

Position Summary
This role involves providing healthcare services to adult patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. Services include care during both acute and chronic illness phases, patient and family education and counseling, health promotion, prevention strategies, and referrals to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate.

Required Qualifications
Current licensure and certificate of authority to practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the State of Ohio.

Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate for national certification recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing. A Master's degree in Nursing is required.

Current licensure and certificate of authority to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio. Graduation from a Physician Assistant program that qualifies the graduate for national certification.
