Dialysis Technician

To provide high-quality patient care and support services for chronic hemodialysis patients under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities- Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis treatments while ensuring patient safety.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations, notifying the RN immediately.
- Perform and document ongoing care of dialysis patients, participating in established patient care plans and educational needs.
- Participate in patient and/or family conferences, serving as a patient advocate.
- Assist with data collection and monitoring for quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide feedback to the RN/LPN regarding patient observations.
- Maintain a clean environment and adhere to infection control practices in the dialysis unit.
- Act as a preceptor to new dialysis technicians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prefer a minimum of 1 year of hospital or dialysis experience.
- Minimum - High School diploma.
- BLS certification, must obtain National Dialysis Technician certification within 18 months of hire.
The employee will frequently be required to walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.
The job requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation.
The noise level in the work area is usually moderate.
