Dialysis Technician

To deliver high-quality patient care and support services for chronic hemodialysis patients under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities- Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis treatments while ensuring patient safety.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations, notifying the RN immediately.
- Perform and document ongoing care of dialysis patients, participating in established patient care plans and educational needs.
- Participate in patient and/or family conferences, serving as a patient advocate.
- Assist with data collection and monitoring for P.I., providing feedback to the RN/LPN regarding patient observations.
- Support cultural practices while ensuring they do not harm others or interfere with medical treatment.
- Participate in all duties assigned to machine tech and PCT, maintaining a clean environment and adhering to infection control practices.
- Act as a preceptor to new dialysis technicians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience: Prefer a minimum of 1 year in hospital or dialysis experience.
- Education: Minimum - High School diploma.
- Licenses/Certifications: BLS certification, must obtain National Dialysis Technician certification within 18 months of hire.
- Other: Has successfully completed hospital basic clinical patient care technician program and probationary period as a hemodialysis machine technician.
- PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: While performing this job, the employee will frequently be required to walk, sit, and stand, occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs, and on occasion, lift or move up to 100 lbs.
