As an Associate Director, Mental Health Service, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of quality care and medical services in areas such as mental health, substance use, forensic mental health, quality assurance, and utilization review.

  • Purpose of Position: Develop, plan, direct, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate healthcare services to ensure the delivery of quality care and medical services.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Formulate and develop methods and procedures for monitoring, evaluating, and operating mental health programs and services.
    • Monitor and coordinate review processes of assigned mental health services to determine if programs meet health care needs, objectives, and goals established by the Mental Health Services Department.
    • Participate in the development of policies, standards, rules, and regulations pertaining to mental health services.
    • Provide advisory and consultative services to System, healthcare settings, and their staff. Maintain liaison with community agencies and professional organizations on matters affecting mental health programs.
    • Review city, state, and federal regulations in connection with compliance. Review and advise pertinent personnel on improving programs for full compliance.
    • Advise the Director on policy and procedural changes, community problems, utilization and development of staff, implementation of productivity goals, and make recommendations for improvement in mental health services.
    • Supervise staff assigned to departmental activities and provide professional direction.
    • Participate in staff meetings and conferences and attend meetings with key leadership officials and external representatives.
    • Provide advisory and consultative services in connection with the development of grant proposals. Implement administrative policies and procedures based on standards of professional review organizations.
    • Perform related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Public Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Specialization, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in hospital or regulatory agency administration, with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services.
  • Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health field issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
