The Position

As a Culinary Specialist at Living Room, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the kitchen operates seamlessly. Your responsibilities will include food preparation, sauce creation, and supporting head chefs during service. You will excel in high-pressure environments and inspire your teammates to maintain composure during peak hours. Daily tasks encompass the preparation of various food items across different kitchen stations while accommodating allergy requests and specific dish modifications.

A successful Culinary Specialist is integral to our team, possessing a diverse skill set and a proven track record of executing all menu items flawlessly from preparation to presentation, delivering exceptional dishes from every station.

  • Thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, capable of producing consistent, high-quality dishes in fast-paced settings across all stations.
  • Assist with inventory management to maintain sustainable food costs.
  • Monitor waste, cooking temperatures, and quality to minimize additional expenses, educating others on the impact of product costs on the company's profitability.
  • Execution of production and a-la-carte dishes.
  • Delegate tasks as necessary while ensuring adherence to proper procedures for clocking in and out for shifts and breaks.
  • Support the Executive Sous Chef.
  • Uphold company standards and target goals for service quality.
  • Foster a positive atmosphere for teams under pressure, contributing to a welcoming work environment that enhances staff morale.

Participate in training sessions and assist in mentoring both new and existing team members in their areas of interest.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced, upscale culinary environment.
  • Strong knowledge of professional cooking techniques and knife skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute all menu items and deliver top-quality dishes across all stations.
  • Valid food handler's certification.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and motivational skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with kitchen leadership and team members.
  • Proactive team player who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Creative flair for developing recipes from scratch.
