SRS - RN Triage - Primary Care - Float Pool - Per Diem - Variable

Sharp HealthCare is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse - Triage Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Primary Care - Float Pool team, you will be responsible for assessing and facilitating patient access, providing quality care to our patients, and serving as a technical nursing expert for assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Skills
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in assigned areas and within scope of practice.
- Triage patients, collect pertinent information, recognize the urgency of the patient's problem, and route to physician as needed.
- Return phone calls according to physician instruction, schedule patient appointments, and triage and manage all urgent and emergent tasks.
- Partner with staff and providers to triage urgent messages, use well-developed triage and assessment skills to deliver all nursing care, and triage walk-in patients.
- Perform and assist with all tests and procedures in assigned departments, act as a clinical resource for assigned areas, and accurately document patient care per protocol.
- Participate in clinical projects as directed by physicians or managers.
- Department Efficiency and Effectiveness
- Organize and complete daily requirements and responsibilities, ensure prompt and efficient return of messages according to established policy, and troubleshoot and resolve problem calls.
- Monitor patient flow, physician schedules, and complete daily tasks to ensure quality and meet service standards, follow policy and procedure for entering of OCM, and complete work within assigned hours.
- Respond to changing circumstances, prioritize patient needs, and respond to urgent and emergent situations in a calm and capable manner.
- Ensure readiness of reports and information to maximize patient visit, maintain appropriate supply levels, and be cost-conscious in usage.
- Participate in and prepare for site inspections and inventories, complete department inventories per guidelines, and enter authorizations and schedules surgeries and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
- Leadership
- Assist with training and education of new and existing staff, consistently pro-active in team development and problem-solving to meet department goals and support changes.
- Act as a resource and role model for staff, facilitate inter-departmental cooperation and teamwork, and adhere to Sharp HealthCare standards of conduct.
- Medication Management
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable medications, demonstrate safe and accurate administration techniques, and ensure verification by licensed person and documentation of all medications administered.
- Assist with Medical Assistant medication verification in immediate areas.
- Nursing Competencies
- Successfully complete Nursing Competencies with a score of 90% or greater in each section, complete Quality Assurance (QA) assignments, and ensure overall department compliance with requirements.
- Maintain narcotic control procedures, including key management and inventory, and assist with prescription reconciliation at the end of the month.
- Technical Skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and Information Systems applications, activate emergency procedures per protocol, and document patient care events in a thorough and accurate manner.
- Manage and complete AEHR tasks per prescribed timelines, support and knowledge of new applications and policies, and demonstrate typing skills proficiency.
- Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements, and support of front desk responsibilities, and operate and maintain department equipment.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing - REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - PREFERRED
- 1 Year RN experience in related clinical area - PREFERRED
- Triage experience - PREFERRED
- Leadership experience - PREFERRED
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Various-Employee provides certificate - PREFERRED
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association - PREFERRED
- IV proficient
