Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to critically ill children, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring that patient needs are met and exceeded.
- Monitor and manage patient vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate dosing and timing.
- Participate in code blue and rapid response team activations, providing critical care interventions as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged in the care process.
- Document patient care and progress in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Current California RN license.
- 2 years of experience in Pediatric ICU or Critical Care Float Pool.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
The Pediatric ICU at Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego is a high-acuity unit that provides care to critically ill children with a wide range of medical conditions, including respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, and post-operative cardiac surgical care. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by a team of experienced healthcare professionals.
