About the Role

This internship provides an exceptional opportunity to work with a team of experienced professionals in the field of Middle East policy research. As a Middle East Research Intern, you will contribute to critical projects related to Israel, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, and have the chance to participate in a twice-monthly speaker series.

You will work closely with Dr. David Adesnik, FDD's director of research, and other members of the team to conduct research on regional developments, politics, international relations, economic relations, and national security. Strong writing capabilities and research experience are essential for this role. Knowledge of foreign languages, particularly Persian (Farsi), Arabic, or Hebrew, is a plus but not required.

We offer a stipend and assist students who wish to earn academic credit for this internship. All interns are eligible for a stipend and will be required to complete specific government documentation before it is paid.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Conduct research on regional developments, politics, international relations, economic relations, and national security
  • Work closely with senior staff to develop research projects and produce written reports
  • Participate in the twice-monthly speaker series
  • Assist in the development of research materials and presentations

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A minimum GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • A relevant course of study and completed coursework in fields such as International Relations, Security Studies, History, Communications, Journalism, International Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, or a relevant STEM field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, and basic Excel skills
  • A commitment to a minimum of 22 hours per week
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

We estimate the salary range for this position to be around $15-$20 per hour, based on the location in downtown Washington, D.C. Please note that this is an estimate and may vary depending on individual circumstances.
