About the Role

The Kendal Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting in the overall coordination of food preparation, cooking, and baking activities, ensuring the highest quality and nutritional value of food prepared under the supervision of the Executive Chef.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service: Maintain production kitchen operations to ensure consistency with high-quality meal service. Prepare menu items and recipes under the guidance of the Executive Chef, adhering to safe food handling procedures and critical control temperatures.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise kitchen team members on shifts in the absence of the Executive Chef, train, evaluate, and recommend discipline to all kitchen personnel under the supervision of the Executive Chef.
  • Inventory Management: Communicate ordering needs and maintain accurate purchasing lists, ensuring all necessary items are identified and procured.
  • Quality Control: Taste test and evaluate food before serving to ensure standards are met, with a close eye for meal presentation.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Ensure all production needs and cook station checks are performed before and after meal service, maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen environment.
  • Customer Service: Manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent, with a culinary degree or culinary arts certificate preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience managing kitchen operations in fine-dining, restaurant, hotels, or other food service outlets.
  • Certifications: ServSafe certification preferred.
  • Language: Proficiency in English.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach to access ingredients and equipment in low cabinets, high shelves, or tight areas. Must be able to stand and walk 90% of the workday, lift, carry, push, and hold up to 60 pounds.
  • Work Environment: May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers, must be able to tolerate high temperatures and work comfortably in a hot and sometimes humid environment.
Compensation and Benefits

The Kendal Corporation offers a competitive salary range of $32.00-$38.00 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, 403(b) program with generous match, and generous time off, including paid annual vacation, sick days, personal days, and holidays.
