Position Overview:

The Cashier plays a crucial role in the retail environment by managing customer transactions for hardware products through a point of sale (POS) system. This position emphasizes exceptional customer service, ensuring that customers feel welcomed and assisted in finding the items they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Management: Efficiently operates POS systems to finalize customer purchases, including various payment methods such as cash, credit, and debit. Adheres to cash handling protocols and completes necessary documentation accurately.
  • Customer Engagement: Welcomes customers warmly, providing prompt and attentive service. Understands customer needs and assists with larger or cumbersome items as required. Handles inquiries and resolves issues with professionalism, involving management when necessary.
  • Product Familiarity: Maintains a solid understanding of the merchandise available and its locations within the store to effectively guide customers.
  • Security Awareness: Recognizes signs of counterfeit currency and potential theft.
  • Store Maintenance: Ensures that checkout areas are tidy, well-stocked, and organized.

Additional Duties:

  • Assists in stocking and pricing merchandise as time permits.
  • Returns misplaced items to their respective sections.
  • Handles incoming store calls.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience of one year in a cashier role, though not mandatory.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift items weighing up to 35 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English, along with fundamental math skills.
  • Reliability is essential; consistent attendance is required for this position.
