Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Management: Efficiently operates POS systems to finalize customer purchases, including sales, special orders, gift certificates, invoicing, and applying discounts. Ensures accurate payment processing through various methods such as cash, check, credit, debit, and store accounts, while adhering to all cash handling protocols and completing necessary documentation.
  • Customer Engagement: Provides a friendly and efficient service by greeting customers and promptly addressing their needs. Assists customers with heavy or bulky items and handles inquiries or complaints with professionalism, involving management when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Product Familiarity: Maintains a broad understanding of the merchandise available and its locations within the store to effectively assist customers.
  • Loss Prevention: Recognizes signs of counterfeit currency and potential theft.
  • Store Maintenance: Ensures that the checkout area is clean, organized, and well-stocked.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Restocks and labels merchandise as needed.
  • Returns misplaced items to their proper locations.
  • Handles incoming store calls.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred one (1) year of experience in a cashier role, though not mandatory.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift items weighing up to 35 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and possess fundamental math skills.
  • Dependability is essential, as regular attendance is a critical aspect of this role.
