Position Summary:

As a Child Welfare Support Specialist, you will assist Child Welfare Specialists in achieving family permanency. You will act as a primary contact for clients, adhere to established office protocols, and perform additional duties necessary for the efficient operation of the office while promoting FamilyCore's mission. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain program equipment and workspace.
  • Develop and uphold accurate, confidential documentation, visitation notes, and track required data in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Follow the standards set by the Council on Accreditation.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable rules and procedures.
  • Organize and manage confidential information and data effectively.
  • Document Parent-Child and Sibling visit case notes in the Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System.
  • Provide in-home services to support family permanency.
  • Ensure a welcoming and clean environment that fosters quality interactions aligned with FamilyCore's mission.
  • Implement safety protocols and policies consistently.
  • Track vehicle mileage, fuel levels, and maintenance needs.
  • Perform various support functions, including filing, copying, and customer service.
  • Supervise and engage in parent-child and sibling visitations.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with all clients.
  • Collaborate with schools, FamilyCore staff, and parents.
  • Commit to professional development and cultural competency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of relevant experience preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to maintain professional boundaries with clients.
  • Client-focused approach.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License with no restrictions and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to operate FamilyCore vehicles.
  • Completion of child passenger safety training.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with time tracking software and other necessary tools.
  • Successful completion of required background checks.
  • Safe and reliable personal vehicle for FamilyCore business, including client transportation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and lifestyle differences.
  • Completion of FamilyCore training as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular activities include reaching, sitting, walking, standing, grasping, and lifting up to 45 lbs.
  • Occasional stooping and overhead reaching.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including multi-line phones, fax machines, printers, copiers, scanners, and computers.
  • Perform all job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in both office and community settings, with exposure to varying noise levels and weather conditions.
  • May encounter distractions and interruptions, as well as challenging client interactions.
