Job Summary:

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Madison, WI. The successful candidate will be responsible for projecting construction costs by collecting and analyzing information. This includes reviewing specifications, proposals, and other documents to produce project take-offs/estimates that outline project costs and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use company training, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency in estimating results.
  • Review full specifications, plans, and addenda associated with the project, and complete take-offs for all items to be estimated.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Source, identify, and secure accurate processes for structural computations, bonds, licenses, insurance requirements, materials, engineering hours, shop labor, freight, field installation, sales tax, and overhead.
  • Double-check calculations to ensure bid offers are accurate before submission.
  • Prepare a project proposal in detail outlining all inclusions and exclusions.
  • Resolve estimating problems before presenting to the CFO.
  • Prepare a scope list of all items included in the estimate and review it with the CFO, including any qualifications or exceptions.
  • Ability to cooperate, participate, and be a team player in achieving company goals and objectives.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications.
  • Understand contractual terms and conditions.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience working in the construction field, metal fabrication environment, or similar position.
  • Proven experience as a construction estimator with in-depth knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Successful use of mathematical calculations and technology in the scope of work.
  • Ability to read contract documents and contract drawings.
  • Competency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
