Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team at Ventura Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, and systems in our packaging and refinery departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize mechanical skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment in accordance with established GMP and safety procedures.
  • Perform emergency and scheduled repairs of production equipment, and coordinate repairs with other mechanics as needed.
  • Install, repair, overhaul, modify, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair activities, and diagnose and repair or replace faulty electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria, including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with and troubleshooting PLCs, AC/DC electrical troubleshooting on food packaging/processing equipment, and production/processing machine repair.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trained on safety-related programs necessary to perform the position, including LOTO and confined space entry.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical applications and principles, including part identification.
  • Strong work ethic related to attendance and performance of duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form, including technical instructions in mathematical form and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety, including demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used in electrical, electronic, and mechanical trades.

Physical Demands

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.

Work Environment

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures, including extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
