Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative plays a critical role in the revenue cycle by accurately processing patient data and maintaining current knowledge of payor insurance requirements. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills to interact with patients, medical staff, and outside vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire, enter, and update patient registration information into the Eclipsys system, verifying accuracy of data.
  • Provide information related to billing, compliance, patient rights, and HIPAA, verifying patient insurance coverage and obtaining authorizations.
  • Request and collect co-pays, deposits, and issue receipts at time of payment.
  • Communicate with medical and clinical personnel regarding patient access, interfacility transfers, discharge processing, and reimbursement issues.
  • Accurately index patient information to HPR and interact with IS, HIM, and ASR's to assure optimal information flow.
Requirements
  • Two years of medical office or customer service experience.
  • Participates in orientation, patient access training program, and continuing education.
  • Updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
Work Environment

This position is located in a clinical setting with exposure to Class I or II hazards. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
