Role Summary: Under the guidance of the Site Director, the Child Care Assistant will oversee children, assist in executing engaging activities, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. The role emphasizes the core values of the YMCA: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. This is a part-time role averaging under 30 hours weekly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that inspire enthusiasm among participants.
- Supervise children and manage all activities to ensure safety and engagement.
- Conduct regular observations and assessments of each child's progress.
- Maintain a clean and organized program space and equipment.
- Participate in family engagement events, program activities, and staff meetings.
- Support the holistic development of children, addressing their physical, social, and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute activities effectively.
- Provide direct supervision and maintain visual contact with all children in care.
- Engage in daily activities, assisting children in completing tasks and participating in various activities.
- Complete necessary documentation regarding attendance and health checks, and communicate with families as needed.
- Ensure program areas are tidy and adhere to safety protocols.
- Follow all relevant policies and procedures set forth by regulatory agencies and the YMCA.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, representing the YMCA in a professional manner.
- Adhere to punctuality and dress code requirements as per site guidelines.
- Execute tasks as directed by the Site or Child Care Director.
- Assist in recruitment efforts and special events for the program.
- Participate in YMCA Camp Days and other scheduled program locations.

Qualifications:
- Meet educational and experience requirements as mandated by state regulations.
- Preferred: High School diploma or GED with two years of experience working with children.
- Associate degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse prevention training are required within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering positive relationships.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to engage in physical activities and maintain supervision of children at all times.
