Position Overview

Role Duration: This role is designed to support children in a structured environment, ensuring their safety and engagement during after-school hours.

Work Schedule: The position requires availability during weekdays, with morning and afternoon shifts to accommodate school hours.

Role Summary: Under the guidance of the Site Director, the Child Care Aide will oversee children’s activities, assist in executing educational programs, and maintain a safe and nurturing environment. This part-time role focuses on delivering a positive experience aligned with the core values of Glow YMCA: integrity, respect, accountability, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that align with established guidelines.
  2. Supervise children during all activities, ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  3. Conduct regular observations and assessments of each child's progress.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the program area and equipment.
  5. Participate in family engagement events, staff meetings, and training sessions.
  6. Support the holistic development of children, focusing on their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
  7. Collaborate with team members to plan and execute activities effectively.
  8. Provide leadership and maintain constant supervision of assigned groups.
  9. Engage in daily activities, assisting children with tasks and skill development.
  10. Complete necessary documentation related to attendance and health protocols.
  11. Ensure program areas are tidy and adhere to safety standards.
  12. Follow all relevant policies and procedures related to child care.
  13. Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  14. Adhere to punctuality and professional standards as outlined by the organization.
  15. Assist in recruitment efforts and special events as needed.
  16. Participate in YMCA Camp Days and alternate program locations as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Meets state educational and experience requirements for child care roles.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent preferred, with experience working with children.
  3. Relevant degree in Child Development or related field is advantageous.
  4. Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention are required.
  5. Ability to design and implement age-appropriate activities.
  6. Experience working with diverse populations and building positive relationships.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess the ability to lead and participate in various activities, ensuring the safety and supervision of children at all times.
