Cardiovascular Perfusion Specialist

This role is focused on delivering expert perfusion services within the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of a healthcare organization. The Cardiovascular Perfusion Specialist is responsible for the safe management of perfusion apparatus during surgical procedures and organ transplants, as well as providing extended cardiac and respiratory support for patients in critical care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain perfusion equipment during surgical interventions.
  • Administer rapid infusion and cardioplegia as required.
  • Ensure the correct assembly and setup of all necessary equipment.
Qualifications:
  • State-issued Perfusionist license.
  • Certification as a Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) from ABCP.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in perfusion case management.
Essential Skills:
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, and reaching.
  • Able to lift and transport various weights.
  • Functional vision, speech, and hearing are essential.
  • Exposure to various workplace hazards necessitating personal protective equipment.
