Job Summary

Varstaff is seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Assembly Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our propulsion systems team, you will be responsible for the precision assembly of rocket engines and other complex mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and inspect rocket engines and other propulsion systems to ensure precise tolerances and high-quality standards.
  • Coordinate hardware processing, including inspection, cleaning, and shipping, to meet critical cleanliness requirements.
  • Manage hardware and materials under strict quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with engineers to review design concepts and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in assembly of turbomachinery/propulsion systems, aircraft or automotive engines, or other highly technical machinery.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and read technical manuals/detailed work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical competence with the ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to accurately use precision measurement and inspection tools.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in propulsion assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Associate degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of precision inspection equipment.
  • Experience with critical sealing surface requirements.
  • Experience with thread insert installation and thread tapping tools.
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in integration and test of propulsion systems.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts on flight hardware.
  • Experience with 3D measurement tools, such as Faro Arms/Trackers and Verisurf software.
  • Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred), and ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
