Job Overview

The Fleet Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the retention, coordination, and management of all driver personnel, including Independent Contractors. This role is crucial in supporting effective field operations through optimal resource management. The Supervisor ensures the safe and efficient movement of all resources to guarantee that delivery functions are executed according to established plans. Additionally, this position is responsible for supervising the loading and unloading of freight, as well as utilizing various support systems to document logistics and operational activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety as a primary focus by participating in all driver safety meetings within the designated area.
  • Cultivates a culture of safety to ensure full compliance with all regulations set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
  • Oversees the achievement of Key Performance Indicators, ensuring optimal performance metrics such as On-Time Delivery Percentage, Driver Turnover, and Revenue per Mile.
  • Provides leadership to both company and contract drivers by effectively communicating business objectives and ensuring alignment with team goals.
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration with Planning and Fleet operations to meet company initiatives and share best practices.
  • Leads, motivates, and develops a team to achieve results by communicating organizational goals and safety practices.
  • Implements continuous improvement strategies while maintaining a customer-centric approach and embodying the company’s values.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism under stress.
  • Strong listening skills to comprehend information presented verbally or in writing.
  • Proficient in problem recognition, evaluation, and resolution.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and organizational.
  • Ability to follow directions and execute tasks independently.
  • Proficient in map reading and navigation.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.
  • Experience with Excel and familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMW preferred).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of 2 years of education beyond high school in a college or technical institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge gained through 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
