Pipe Layer

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our team at S.T. Wooten Corporation. As a Pipe Layer, you will be responsible for performing general construction tasks involving physical labor on commercial, highway, and heavy construction projects.

• Operate Heavy Equipment: Operate concrete saws, power tools, and other equipment as required to perform pipe laying tasks.
• Site Preparation: Prepare sites for construction by clearing debris and leveling the ground.
• Pipe Installation: Install sewer, water, and storm drain pipes using excavators and laser guidance equipment.
• Teamwork: Signal equipment operators to align, move, and adjust equipment and materials as needed.
• Maintenance: Lubricate, clean, and repair tools as required by company standards.
• Work Area Preparation: Clean and prepare work areas to eliminate potential hazards.
• Traffic Control: Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones (if certified to do so).
• Digging and Backfilling: Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
• Loading and Unloading: Load and unload construction materials, machinery, and tools.
• Additional Duties: Perform additional duties as required or directed by your immediate supervisor or other manager.

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Experience: Must have 2-5 years' experience as a pipe layer.
• Skills: Must be able to set laser for pipe laying, shoot and calculate grade for pipe, and have basic masonry skills.
• Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort required, including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds).

The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position.
