Emergency Response Specialist

Position Summary: The role of the Emergency Response Specialist is crucial in safeguarding properties, managing incidents, and delivering urgent medical support. This position entails responding to alarms, operating firefighting equipment, providing emergency medical assistance, and addressing inquiries from non-emergency callers. Responsibilities also include conducting business inspections, maintaining equipment, and offering specialized training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to medical emergencies.
- Ensure conservation of property.
- Document and maintain incident reports.
- Engage in Wildland Search and Rescue operations.
- Suppress fires effectively.
- Participate in specialized rescue missions.
- Assist in Wildland firefighting efforts.
- Handle hazardous materials safely.
- Educate the public on fire safety.
Additional Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of basic policies and procedures.
- Proficient in basic computer and typing skills.
- Emergency Medical skills.
- Knowledge of Structural Firefighting techniques.
- Familiarity with Wildland Firefighting practices.
- Special Rescue skills.
- Strong public relations abilities.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Relevant experience of at least one year is necessary, which may substitute for education.
Licenses and Certifications:
Required certifications include:
- Medical: CPR/AED, Emergency Medical First Responder
- IFSAC/ProBoard Accredited: Fire Fighter I
- Driver/Operator: Emergency Vehicle Driver Training
- FEMA Independent Study Courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800
Preferred certifications include:
- Medical: Emergency Medical Technician (Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic)
- IFSAC/ProBoard Accredited: Fire Fighter II, Fire Instructor I
- Driver/Operator: Pump Operations I
- Hazardous Materials: Hazardous Materials Technician
- Rescue: Various Rescue Operations certifications
- Wildland: S-190, S-130
Physical Requirements:
The position involves:
- Standing and walking for significant periods.
- Using hands and arms frequently.
- Occasional climbing or balancing.
- Ability to lift weights up to 100 pounds.
Vision Requirements:
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are necessary.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Potential hazards include noise, extreme temperatures, and various physical conditions.
