Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer Principal to join our team at the University of California. The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge of echocardiographic procedures, cardiac anatomy, and physiology, with a strong understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform 3D echocardiography, strain imaging, and advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques as assigned or per protocol.
  • Follow established imaging protocols and modify examinations to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality cardiac echo information is obtained.
  • Conduct diagnostic recordings, accurate measurements, and calculations of echocardiography images and Doppler hemodynamic data, with or without ultrasound enhancement agents.
  • Identify patients requiring enhancement agents, place peripheral intravenous catheters, and administer ultrasound enhancement agents, following policy guidelines.
  • Contribute to work organization and scheduling as a member of a self-directed work team.
  • Participate in the training of cardiac sonographers, students, residents, and fellows in echocardiography, as assigned.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification.
  • BART or BLS certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
  • Four years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of sonography education and experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Adult Congenital and Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
Special Conditions
  • Ability to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Capability to perform on-call duties, including weekends, as required.
Compensation

The annual full pay range for this position is $130,229 - $161,966, with an hourly equivalent of $77.57. The hiring pay scale is based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
