Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, the Senior Radiologic Technologist is responsible for executing advanced radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures that aid healthcare professionals in identifying medical conditions and injuries. This role involves operating radiographic machinery to generate high-quality images of the human body while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts both specialized and routine diagnostic radiology examinations.
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills by explaining procedures to patients, alleviating their concerns, and securing their cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients appropriately for imaging procedures.
  • Utilizes immobilization devices to capture optimal images of the specified body areas as requested by physicians.
  • Determines exposure parameters based on patient specifics such as height, weight, and the area being examined.
  • Adjusts equipment settings to ensure images are captured with the necessary detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in various settings, including operating rooms and emergency departments.
  • Assists radiologists and qualified physicians in conducting fluoroscopic and specialized x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares images for evaluation by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Processes and reviews images for proper identification and quality assurance.
  • Performs routine maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, and coordinates repairs as necessary.
  • Implements radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Maintains accurate records, logs, and reports of all activities performed.
  • Provides orientation and training for new staff and students.
  • Acts in the capacity of Supervising Radiology Technologist in their absence.
  • Undertakes additional related duties as required.
  • Supervisory Role: This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:

Experience:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a specialized area (CT) or one year in a specialty with ARRT certification.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • California Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate.
  • California Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Skills:
  • ACLS certification as required for the role.
  • Ability to perform general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties across all age groups.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding instructions and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work within a Labor Management Partnership framework.
  • Compliance with position specifications as outlined in the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
  • For career advancement, obtaining necessary certifications is essential.
  • Opportunities for educational advancement will be provided to assist in obtaining required permits.
  • California Mammography Certificate, if necessary for the position.
