Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Conflicts Researcher to join our team at Holland & Hart LLP. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in supporting our risk management function by identifying and reporting potential conflicts of interest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence research on potential new clients and partners, utilizing various electronic resources and databases.
  • Prepare summary reports outlining research findings and highlighting potential risk issues, advising senior attorneys and screening attorneys on relevant findings.
  • Search and prepare conflict reports on names submitted through various search requests, utilizing conflicts software to identify potential legal and business conflicts.
  • Perform corporate tree research and analysis to determine business entity structures and uncover client relationships relevant to conflict reports.
  • Learn and assist with inactivating matters and adding former client/adverse hits for new hires, as well as processing rejected matters and filing related documentation.
  • Respond to department emails as needed and train on handling late shift assignments.
  • Adhere to all firm and department policies and procedures related to conflict searches, due diligence research, and new business intake.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 4 years of comparable law firm or research experience, or a Paralegal Certificate and 2 years of comparable law firm or research experience.
  • Prior experience as a Conflicts Researcher at a comparably sized firm or other prior legal experience a plus.
  • High level of proficiency using personal computers, database software, Windows, and Word required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures, apply good judgment, think independently, and seek advice when necessary.
  • Requires good interpersonal/communication skills to work effectively with personnel at all levels within the firm.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in escalating and communicating issues.
