Position: Civil Estimator - Full Time

Location: Dayton, OH
Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate comprehensive labor, material, and equipment cost assessments for excavation, utility, and related initiatives.
  • Negotiate contracts, draft purchase orders, evaluate submittals, and formulate project budgets.
  • Convey budgetary parameters for awarded contracts to the Excavating Department's Project and Operations Managers.
  • Conduct detailed utility take-offs to ascertain material quantities.
  • Execute earthwork take-offs to evaluate soil quantities, utilizing Trimble Business Center.
  • Request pricing for necessary materials from qualified suppliers and for tasks beyond the company's capabilities from reputable subcontractors.
  • Develop cost estimates, bid proposals, and budgets for confirmed projects, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Support the Project Manager with daily operational tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in estimating projects within the excavation sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of Trimble Business Center for earthwork estimation and GPS site management software.
  • Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid bidding and Heavy Job project management software.
  • Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and other industry-specific applications.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, either Associate's or Bachelor's.
