Overview:

The role involves Project and Process Engineering, primarily focusing on supporting various engineering initiatives. The position emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental considerations, particularly in relation to Major Accident Hazards and Safety Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee capital project contract personnel during both on-site and pre-planning phases to ensure project completion without incidents or environmental impact.
  • Act as the Site Project Lead Engineer, guiding the Process Engineering design from initial concept through to commissioning. This includes tasks such as developing P&IDs, creating PFDs, planning equipment layouts, conducting HAZOPs, specifying instruments, assessing trip and alarm systems, performing heat and mass balances, selecting equipment, managing bids and costs, collaborating with third-party suppliers, and executing trials.
  • Manage the commissioning and optimization of both equipment and processes.
  • Handle Project Engineering responsibilities, including defining project scope, estimating costs, and contributing to project planning and cost control.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to line management as required, serving as a resource for all levels of site personnel on process-related matters.
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Support the execution of plant modifications and capital expansion projects, ensuring site input during design phases and overseeing commissioning and start-up, along with subsequent enhancements.
  • Assist line management in developing and maintaining plant and safety systems, particularly focusing on Operating and Maintenance Procedures for both existing and newly installed equipment.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the NC Capex plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the chemical industry or a comparable field, preferably in a Plant Engineering or Design Engineering capacity.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations, particularly regarding Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plans (RMP). Experience with Safety and Environmental Management Systems is essential.
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS programming is advantageous.
  • A practical, proactive approach combined with robust technical expertise. Ability to deliver work independently as well as through collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated experience in chemical plant process engineering, both in office settings and on-site. Comfortable managing detailed and rigorous tasks.
