Key Responsibilities
- Conducts field assessments to evaluate visibility issues, speed and delay metrics, parking challenges, and requests for traffic control devices.
- Installs counters at various intersections to assess the necessity for signals and additional traffic apparatus.
- Performs turning movement analyses at intersections and compiles accident documentation.
- Executes specialized studies at intersections and may be tasked with conducting unique parking evaluations.
- Implements curve speed assessments and radar speed evaluations.
- Maintains communication with the community and addresses received concerns.
- Inputs and retrieves data using personal computing systems.
Engages in both indoor and outdoor work under varying weather conditions, with exposure to potential traffic-related hazards.
Essential Qualifications
Knowledge:
Familiarity with the geographic layout of city streets is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
Capable of creating basic line drawings, operating or learning to use calculators and computers, interpreting maps, working outdoors for extended durations, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for report generation based on data collection.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly sees and hears; frequently stands, sits, bends, and lifts items weighing up to 30 lbs.
Education/Experience:
Completion of high school or equivalent, including coursework in mathematics and computer skills, or adequate background to quickly gain necessary experience. Experience with personal computer operations is desirable.
