Position Summary
The Culinary Operations Supervisor is entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of food production, hygiene standards, staff management, and the overall safety of all culinary offerings during their shifts. This role demands an in-depth understanding of all recipes, procedures, and techniques for each menu item while on duty. The Culinary Operations Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Food & Beverage Manager on aspects of financial oversight, procurement, inventory management, scheduling, training, and recruitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing the operations of the food outlet.
- Uphold departmental sanitation standards for the kitchen and service areas.
- Act as the Chef on duty, providing managerial insights into daily operations.
- Through effective training and follow-up, ensure the team meets or surpasses departmental quality standards for food and service.
- Share accountability with the Food & Beverage Manager for labor and food cost management.
- Ensure all food and beverage areas comply with company standards and relevant regulations.
- Initiate and lead the training and evaluation of kitchen team members.
- Engage in coaching and performance discussions with team members.
- Recommend food and supply orders using departmental technology.
- Assist with monthly inventory assessments.
- Participate in cross-training across various kitchen outlets.
- Ensure the culinary team operates efficiently, professionally, and productively.
- Support the supervision of all kitchen outlets.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings.
- Deliver exceptional service to both guests and internal stakeholders.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and standard operating procedures.
Kitchen Team Members
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; culinary education is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of extensive culinary experience, including supervisory and leadership roles.
- Possess or be able to obtain a food handler's certificate within a week of employment.
This position requires the ability to stand, move, and work throughout various areas, including the kitchen and public spaces. The role may involve walking distances, climbing stairs, and sitting at a workstation for extended periods. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level, which may increase in certain areas. Candidates must be able to work in diverse temperature conditions and lift or carry items weighing at least 25 lbs. Additionally, proficiency in using office equipment is necessary.
