Respiratory Care Specialist

Job Summary
The Respiratory Care Practitioner/ERT is a skilled professional responsible for delivering advanced respiratory care modalities and interventions to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities.
This position requires specialized training and experience to perform independent, professional respiratory care, ventilator management, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and clinical evaluation of care.
Responsibilities
- Performs respiratory care procedures in response to patient needs, physician orders, and within the limits of established departmental policies and procedures.
- Monitors respiratory care modalities for improving efficacy, reducing adverse effects, and assuring patient safety.
- Detects, evaluates, and reports all adverse events related to mechanical ventilation and respiratory care modalities.
- Documents patient care data, interventions/therapies, and outcomes correctly in the medical record.
- Assists the Registered Nurse or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in providing a variety of patient cares/treatments as directed within their scope of practice.
- Performs direct patient care activities independently under the direction/supervision of the Registered Nurse in accordance with unit and MHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Performs point of care laboratory testing (POCT).
Requirements
- Graduate of AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy Training program.
- Registered (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the State of Washington.
- Registry eligibility notice to sit for RRT exam from NBRC required.
- Advanced cardiac life support credential required within 90 days of hire depending on age of the population served: ACLS, NRP, PALS.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum one (1) year of acute care experience in the field of respiratory therapy and critical care as CRT preferred.

The pay scale is $62.38 USD.
However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
