Job Description

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is seeking a highly skilled Physician Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing medical expertise and guidance to our staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical and clinical expertise in the review of traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid managed care policy development and refinement.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and technical assistance efforts.
  • Speak with authority on behalf of CMS to various stakeholders to gain understanding and acceptance of our office and its policies.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must be subject to a background and suitability investigation.
  • Must meet the qualification requirements, including five years of graduate training in the specialty of the position or equivalent experience and training.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from a school in the United States or Canada.
  • Must have at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting.

License and Registration:

  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be Board certified in a specialty approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Work Environment:

  • This position has a regular and recurring reporting requirement to the CMS office listed in this announcement.
  • CMS offers flexible working arrangements and allows employees the opportunity to participate in telework combined with alternative work schedules at the manager's discretion.
