Overview of Responsibilities

This position is a 260-day contract.

The selected candidate will possess an extensive understanding of educational methodologies, cognitive development, and contemporary best practices for impactful teaching.

Key Competencies Required:

  • Provide leadership at the school level in language arts and/or mathematics.
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders within the school and district.
  • Exhibit knowledge and alignment with the mission and objectives of Henrico County Public Schools.
Core Responsibilities

  • Enhance instructional practices in Henrico County by participating in coaching cycles alongside Title I instructional coaches.
  • Work in partnership with school-based instructional coaches, educators, and district personnel to assess, design, and implement impactful professional development aimed at improving student engagement and learning in Title I schools.
  • Assist school-based instructional coaches in evaluating data to determine professional development and educational needs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in instructional practices in collaboration with other educational staff, including exceptional education, gifted programs, remediation, volunteers, administration, and district-level coaches and specialists.
  • Partner with school-based instructional coaches to support the execution of the HCPS Instructional Model, utilize aligned curricula, and integrate evidence-based strategies in reading and mathematics instruction.
  • Support school-based instructional coaches in selecting instructional resources that comply with the HCPS-aligned curriculum, foster learning, and cater to the diverse needs of students in a learner-centered environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow Title I lead instructional coaches, the Title I coordinator, and the Title I specialist to identify district-wide Title I instructional requirements and facilitate the acquisition of materials and resources to enhance instructional practices and student engagement.
  • Stay informed about current educational trends and best practices by engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance coaching abilities and subject matter expertise.
  • Provide guidance on Title I compliance documentation.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with school and district staff, families, students, and community members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • A Master's degree with a Reading Specialist or Math Specialist endorsement is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of successful coaching experience in grades K-5 is essential.
  • Experience in Title I schools is preferred.
Compensation

Minimum annual starting salary: $72,875 for a Master's degree, $76,373 for a Doctorate.
