Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various sectors, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical design of projects from conceptual phase to design completion
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects, including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, and healthcare facilities
  • Design electrical components for project needs and requirements
  • Apply strong knowledge of electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other analysis programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification
