Our specialists offer more talent and experience than any other hospital in the region, and we are proud to be a Level II Trauma Center and the only exclusive heart hospital south of Houston.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for initiating, assessing, and evaluating all forms of respiratory therapy, including bronchodilators, chest physical therapy, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive and invasive ventilator care. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in respiratory anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as the design and operations of all respiratory therapy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verifies and signs all new orders for respiratory care and ensures that all physician orders coincide with current departmental policy
  • Recognizes, interprets, and records signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction and medication side effects, particularly those that require notification of a physician
  • Maintains cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life-support procedures and ensures adequate airway management and assists with intubation
  • Prevents contamination and transfer of infection through appropriate aseptic techniques
  • Knows the mechanics of ventilation and ventilator function and applies principles of airway maintenance, including endotracheal and tracheotomy care
  • Effectively uses equipment for administering oxygen and other therapeutic gases and provides humidification, nebulization, and medication
Requirements:
