Course Title
PDV/TAC 206 Business for Media Composers
Course Summary
This course is designed to equip musicians and composers with the necessary skills to navigate and succeed in the media music industry. Participants will explore various avenues for revenue generation through composing and licensing, while also gaining insights into the essential entities and professional roles within the sector.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Understanding the dynamics of collaboration with film and television studios, producers, and agents.
- Exploring the intricacies of publishing, copyright, and royalties.
- Developing a personalized career strategy in media projects.
- Enhancing career readiness through practical planning and production exercises.
- Investigating innovative distribution methods for composers.
Course Format
This course will be conducted in-person, with classes scheduled for Wednesdays in the evening.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, along with:
- Extensive knowledge of the subject matter and industry best practices.
- Preferred collegiate teaching experience.
- Familiarity with diverse musical styles and related business practices.
- Awareness of the unique challenges faced by emerging professionals in the field.
- Professional experience as a musician.
- Background in Entertainment Law is advantageous.
