Job Summary

Job Overview

As a Seafood Department Manager at Giant Eagle, you will be responsible for leading the entire Seafood team and ensuring the smooth operation of the department. You will be the go-to person for guidance on the freshest catch of the day and the best way to prepare it for our guests. This role requires strong leadership skills, a passion for food, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Management
    • Interview, select, and train Team Members
    • Direct the work of Team Members
    • Appraise Team Members' productivity and efficiency
    • Handle Team Member issues, including complaints
    • Discipline Team Members
  • Department Operations
    • Plan the work and distribute or assign tasks among Team Members
    • Provide for the safety and security of Team Members and the store
    • Manage the budget for the department
    • Manage inventory for the department
    • Monitor or implement compliance measures
  • Training and Development
    • Direct, oversee, and evaluate training provided to department Team Members
    • Reduce turnover, promote efficiency, and control labor costs
  • Leadership and Communication
    • Provide motivational leadership to the team
    • Set an exemplary example
    • Identify strengths and opportunities of the team
    • Think strategically when making decisions and scheduling
    • Nurture an environment of inclusion and diversity
    • Maintain safety as the top priority
  • Performance and Results
    • Set and reach aggressive sales and profit goals
    • Make suggestions when appropriate, while also managing shrink
    • Establish an ongoing communication plan with the team
    • Communicate with the merchandising team
    • Make innovative plans and suggestions to improve business
    • Review and analyze financial, LOB reports, and historical reports
