Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Collins Aerospace, a world leader in advanced communication systems. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and analyzing mechanical systems and components for our communication systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and analysis of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements
  • Provide support to production and suppliers during product integration
  • Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges
  • Support the hardware team in meeting commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
  • Support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
Requirements
  • Previous experience designing and developing hardware, with some exposure to the different phases of product development
  • Background in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools
  • Experience solving technically challenging problems within aggressive timelines
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, circuit card assemblies, structural components, equipment packaging, and layout
  • CREO CAD system experience and PDM or similar product data management tools
  • Previous experience with structural and/or thermal analysis using ANSYS, Flotherm, and/or other analytical tools
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and ASME Y14.5
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Prior defense industry experience, designing and solving problems for high-reliability systems operating within harsh military environments
  • Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware issues during prototyping, production, and test
