Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee a safe, efficient, and effective utilization of all supervised craft resources.
- Manage and mentor direct reports in their job functions; conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.
- Direct technicians in the execution of sanctioned maintenance tasks, overseeing quality, duration, cost, and thoroughness.
- Confirm that Preventative Predictive Maintenance (PPM) work orders are allocated and review completed work.
- Assess pre-planned job packages for precision, including labor requirements, materials, parts, methods, and priorities.
- Promote enhancements to pre-planned job packages in collaboration with craft resources and maintenance planner/scheduler.
- Identify, organize, and monitor the skills training and development needs of each team member, ensuring that mechanics are assigned to tasks appropriate to their skills.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safe working practices throughout the facility.
- Provide assistance and leadership in diagnosing equipment issues.
- Ensure that all labor, materials, and work are documented daily through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Adhere to established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality products that comply with regulatory and company standards.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
- Be accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
- Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to work around ingredients and/or finished products known to contain food allergens.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field with relevant experience, or 6+ years of technical experience in the food sector focused on preventative/predictive maintenance processes, technical guidance, and workforce development.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), as well as EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS applications.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in the food industry concerning preventative and predictive maintenance, workforce guidance, and utility management.
- Experience in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Previous role as a plant maintenance supervisor.
- Experience in providing technical guidance and workforce development.
