Athletic Trainer Assistant Job Description

The Athletic Trainer Assistant will provide sports medicine and athletic training services to the Boise State University Intercollegiate Athletic Program. This role will assist the staff in providing emergency medical coverage and athletic training services, including injury prevention, management, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies for assigned athletic teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary athletic trainer for the Women's Gymnastics program.
  • Provide emergency medical coverage and athletic training services for assigned athletic teams.
  • Maintain adequate records concerning athletic injuries and treatment.
  • Coordinate physician and medical staff referrals, appointments, and surgeries for injured athletes.
  • Coordinate claims, payments, and coverage of insurance benefits for athletes who have received medical care outside of the university setting medical facilities.
  • Participate in coaches meetings to provide injury updates.
  • Maintain current certification and licensure as required for all staff.
  • Act as the facility maintenance coordinator for the Extra Mile Arena athletic training room.
  • Maintain medical equipment and modalities.
  • Fulfill the preceptor role and provide high-quality clinical experience and education for Master of Athletic Training students.


Requirements:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Certification by the NATABOC and meeting standards for State of Idaho Licensure.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications within one month of hire.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more years of certified athletic trainer experience in a full-time role at the collegiate or professional sports level.
  • One or more years of experience working in a gymnastics or performing arts setting.


Salary and Benefits:

Salary starts at $50,000 annually and is commensurate with experience.
