DAKOTA PLAINS LEGAL SERVICES (DPLS) is seeking a qualified Staff Attorney for our office in Sisseton, South Dakota. This office provides legal assistance to the counties of Grant and Roberts, as well as the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Courts.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be licensed to practice law in South Dakota, or be eligible for reciprocity to obtain licensure, or qualify to take the South Dakota Bar Exam.
  • Ideal candidates will be proactive, enthusiastic, and capable of managing a diverse caseload, particularly in family law.
  • Regular court appearances in both state and tribal jurisdictions are expected.
  • A strong commitment to serving low-income clients and Native American communities is essential.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary of $70,000+ for attorneys with two or more years of experience. Staff members enjoy a four-day work week and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous leave and employer-paid insurance coverage (medical, dental, life, and disability).
