Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housekeeping Department Supervisor to join our team at Kettering Health. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate the tasks of subordinate Coordinator staff to ensure efficient and effective housekeeping services.
  • Assure that staff is trained in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations, including HFAP, OSHA, AORN, and ODH.
  • Schedule staff to meet the needs of the facility, taking into account budgetary constraints.
  • In the absence of the Manager, act as the administrative liaison between key customer contacts and the department.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping supplies and order same, keeping costs in line with approved budgetary amounts.
  • Communicate with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.
  • May serve on facility-wide committees.
  • Establish and annually review standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff in accordance with established policies and practices of the facility.
  • Regularly inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the facility, recommending painting, repairs, and furnishings as needed.
  • Provide monthly administrative progress reports relative to short-term accomplishments, future short-term plans, and staff education/training.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.
  • May serve on facility-wide committees.
  • Maintain and support facility goals and objectives as they relate to third-party patient survey process.
  • Interview, select, hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of facility housekeeping personnel in accordance with facility standards.
  • Orientate, train, and supervise all supervisory/housekeeping staff under span of control.
  • Interviews, selects, hires, evaluates housekeeping personnel in accordance with HR procedures and practices.
  • Responsible for orientation of hourly staff, training, and supervision of all supervisory/housekeeping staff under span of control.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Plan work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services are rendered to all areas.
  • Schedule major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available to perform said tasks.
  • Coordinate all outside services relative to the Housekeeping department, including pest control, window cleaning, medical waste, solid waste, document destruction, and recycling programs.
  • Supervise the relocation and storage of all furnishings and equipment, as well as the relocation of space to improve the sanitation and appearance of the facility.
  • Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping supplies and order same, keeping costs in line with budgetary amounts.
Requirements

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of service level agreements and office procedures.

  • Demonstrated progressive growth in the field of health care housekeeping facility maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Education
  • High School Diploma, GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
