The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our emergency department, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes. As a Nursing Care Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Accompanying, assisting, and representing the needs of patients to other providers
  • Providing accurate care with respect to medication administration, skin and wound care, ADLs, and other essential patient care-related activities
  • Developing, implementing, evaluating, and making modifications to the nursing care plan; preparing required records and reports
  • Gathering and assessing information about patients to meet nursing needs; assisting and consulting with physicians in the performance of procedures and diagnostic tests; contracting physicians and/or other departments to obtain or provide patient information
  • May provide oversight to staff who monitor telemetry systems; alerts primary nurse of changes in underlying rhythms and of any life-threatening arrhythmias that may develop; interprets and posts telemetry strips at the hours specified; admits and discharges patients with telemetry units as appropriate
  • Organizing, supervising, making adjustments, and accepting responsibility for the quality of care provided to patients by co-workers for a given work period; assumes responsibility as a team leader or charge nurse when assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a Registered Nurse I with AHS or equivalent of one year full-time recent experience at a comparable level in a minimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty
  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training required for positions in the Emergency Department
