Columbus House is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting fiscal results in accordance with GAAP and grant reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize accounting systems to obtain and post accounting data from various sources.
  • Document and communicate processes, and monitor performance.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of accurate and timely fiscal reports, budgets, and related drawdowns/invoices.
  • Calculate, record, and maintain the Agency's drawdown documentation for federal programs.
  • Respond to independent and funder auditor activities, supplying information requested in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare account analyses for review and discussion with appropriate staff and/or funders.
  • Prepare and submit invoices for billing of VA programs.
  • Manage, update, and reconcile contribution spreadsheets to donor perfect database on a monthly basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of three years' relevant experience.
  • Ability to work with team members.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Experience using computerized accounting systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel & Access.
  • Non-profit experience.
  • Optional-Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse and homelessness.
